The thing is that in ancient times, when the reaches of this plain were inhabited by the Indians, this lake was considered to be a sacred lake as it was believed that having a bathe in this lake could heal from any severe disease forever. Of course, the Indians do not longer live near this lake, but it still bears the name of "The Great Lake".
